The Before and After effect

Popular Home and Reno media has made the "before and after" a very popular concept. I have been asked to post before and after as well, here is my personal believe, I don't believe in them as a summary of the project, because every project has many variables before they materialize; unless something went terribly wrong, places will always have the opportunity to improve.

At the time of meeting a client for a residential project, the reason of their renovations has to do with their evolution in taste, family, and career. Their lives have changed so much and their wish list has grown so long, they need to update their space. For commercial it isn't that much different, it is all about the growth and changing needs of the company.  We guide them, making their wishes into concrete perspective. The entire process will dictate the "After effect."

Knowing your style

When it comes to the style of your interior spaces, most people fall for the beautiful spread of interior design magazines; how can they not, they are after all just Visually Stunning.

Before you decide on a style from a magazine for your next renovation/construction project, you do need to take into consideration how you operate daily, understand your needs. From a bachelor to a parent, from a collector to the unattached, how you operate will impact the Style that you can Sustain on the daily basis.

I dream of white furniture, luxury fabrics, and crystal, but I have learned that at this stage of my life, I would not have the patience to maintain it; dark floors might only look good right after you cleaned it, give it an hour or two with kids and a pet.  Take your time, edit your thoughts and understand your personal environment.

That would be my advice, take a look at how you live to understand the style you can live in. There isn't a best feeling than having your surrounding tailor-made to who you are.

Barcelona

If you ever decide to visit Barcelona, do not forget to visit La Sagrada Familia, large Roman Catholic church, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. Gaudi started construction in the 1880's in Art Nouveau style, and it is still under construction today.

 I am a big fan of Art Nouveau, the beautiful organic ways that architecture could be. It avoids straight angles and it just feels as if Busy ants had the time to participate in the design meeting with the Architect. It isn't a style that became mainstream, the process isn't quick or cost effective, a developer would never agree to it. But considering the Art in Architecture, and thinking of us as inhabitants with organic surroundings,  this would be it!

I had the opportunity to be there in summer 2014. Be ready, a lot of people and a lot of walking. My husband and I sat at a sidewalk little restaurant, facing this stunning building, while having some Serrano peppers, papas a la brava, Spanish tortilla, and some Spanish brand beer (cannot remember the brand, but I can tell you It was fantastic). Food and Architecture, yes, those are memories. :)

A view of Design

Design is a mixture of artistry and functionality, but at the same time in such a personal level. Not everyone feels the same way about design, but we always feel at ease when surroundings works for our personal behaviour and needs.
